If social media has revealed anything to us, it’s that Black Hollywood supports one another with outstanding love.

On Tuesday, Yvette Nicole Brown and friends came out to support their friend Deborah Cox in her first L.A. stop of The Bodyguard, and now, actor Corey Hawkins is getting love.

Hawkins, who’s most known from his role as Dr. Dre in Straight Outta Compton, has been in Broadway’s Six Degrees of Separation since early April. On Tuesday he was nominated for a Tony Award— along with Ruben Santiago-Hudson for August Wilson’s Jitney and Condola Rashad for her work in A Doll’s House, Part 2.

To celebrate the huge news, his friends — Teyonah Parris and Maechi Aharanwa — surprised him with balloons outside of his Broadway show on Tuesday evening.

“Our rap chant was a smudge off beat and because we tied the balloons to our legs to avoid them flying away— they were getting tangled,” Parris said. “BUT we’re full of Love, Pride, & Excitement for our brother!!!”

Surprised, Hawkins embraced the ladies while the balloons were flying in all directions on the NYC sidewalk.

The Tony Awards will air Sunday, June 11 on CBS.
