Kerry Washington celebrated her pending bundle of joy with a garden-themed baby shower on Sunday.
According to E! Online, the star-studded bash was held in Scandal mastermind Shonda Rhimes’ backyard with about 50 guests including Cicely Tyson and Diahann Carroll.
Washington arrived to the ladies-only soiree wearing a light blue dress with a tie at the waist and little makeup. She was joined by her mother, mother-in-law and her two sisters-in-law.
Attendees say that she looked radiant as friends and family toasted her and her journey into motherhood.
Jane Fonda blogged about the joyous event; “I hadn’t seen Kerry since she was pregnant and as soon as I saw her with her gorgeous belly I starting crying,” said Fonda. “Then Kerry’s mother spoke, giving words of wisdom to Kerry and the rest of us about how to raise a baby to be a happy, fully realized person. I started crying again (and it wasn’t because I wanted to go back and do my own raising of my own kids all over again with more wisdom, though that did press in on me) . . . it was because her words moved me.”
Washington, 36, and husband Nnamdi Asomugha, 32, wed last June; they are expecting their new addition this spring.
