Shonda Rhimes Shuts Down Criticism Over Gay Sex Scenes

People should really know better than to criticize how things are done in Shondaland. When a fan on Twitter expressed some ill feelings over the amount of “gay sex scenes” on Scandal and How To Get Away With Murder, Shonda Rhimes had some choice words for them.

“Bye Felicia” indeed! Rhimes is a long-time advocated and ally for the LGBTQ community. She’s even received the 2012 GLAAD Golden Gate Award “presented to a media professional who has made a significant difference in promoting LGBT equality.” She wrapped up her Twitter read with these tweets calling for equality and acceptance:

“I think love is universal,” Rhimes said in her GLAAD acceptance speech, “And I think in telling LGBT stories, I’m telling everyone’s story. That’s why I write the stories that I do, because everyone should be free.” It doesn’t look like she’ll be changing this philosophy anytime soon.
