Obama Watch: Graduation at Hampton University
President Barack Obama delivered a commencement address at Hampton University
today, making him the second US president to do so at the historically
Black college. In his speech the President urged graduates to close the education gap.
"By any number of different yardsticks," he said, "African-Americans are being outperformed by their White classmates, as
are Hispanic-Americans...All of us have a responsibility, as Americans,
to change this." He also told graduates to remember they have a responsibility to
their communities and to being role models to their "little brothers and
sisters." Congratulations to the class of 2010, and to HU! Here's what you had to say: Confucius commented: "That was awesome! Congrats HU!" De wrote: "Amazing! It is always wise to uplift your own."
