South African singer Lira, featured in our “New & Next” column way back in August, returned to the ESSENCE office for a special performance of her hit single ‘Rise Again.” Affectionately known as “the Beyonce of Africa” because of her success, Lira describes her sound as “a fusion of R&B” with “a touch of afro-pop.”
