Back in 1991, sexual harassment allegations against Supreme Court judge nominee Clarence Thomas captivated Americans. At the center of the fire storm was Anita Hill.
As the documentary explores, her testimony against Thomas was damaging, graphic in detail and shocking. The purpose of the hearing was to investigate Thomas’ character, but it soon turned into a trial for Hill. Her character and professionalism were all called into question during the hellish time.
“In 1991, when I was called to testify—I was actually subpoenaed—I set myself a goal to truthfully talk about the experience I had with Clarence Thomas because I thought, and I still think, that it reflected on his ability to be an impartial judge in any case involving the law, but certainly any case involving civil rights, inequality issues,” said Hill in a recent L.A. Times interview. “Having done that yes, it was worth it. I have no regrets.”
Anita is set to hit theaters on March 21st.
