Nicole Ari Parker and hubby Boris Kodjoe appear on this week’s episode of Aspire TV’s Exhale talk show to discuss their 7-year-old daughter Sophie Tei’s battle with spina bifida, a birth defect that affects the development of the spinal cord.
“We went from being the hot Hollywood couple with a perfect-to-be baby to completely devastated, shocked,” said Kodjoe to host Malinda Williams. “We were helpless, we were lost. It took us quite a while to find our bearings and get used to this new norm that we were facing.”
Kodjoe and Parker started Sophie’s Voice Foundation in 2008 in honor of Sophie.
