ESSENCE September cover girl Misty Copeland danced into the hearts of America last night when she delivered a stunning performance alongside famed cellist, Yo-Yo Ma.
The duo came together for Tuesday’s episode of The Late Show with Steven Colbert and the collaboration was certainly worthy of a standing ovation.
Set to Bach’s Cello Suite No. 2, 18-time Grammy winner Yo-Yo Ma provided the tunes while Copeland reminded fans why she’s on top with a graceful yet powerful ballet dance.
Following the performance, Copeland sat down with Colbert to discuss the importance of bringing diversity to classical ballet.
With a historic promotion to the first African-American principal dancer for the American Ballet Theatre, a grand Broadway debut and an upcoming documentary, it’s hard to see an end to Copeland’s reign.
