Old school soul feeds new school funk in Janelle Monae’s brand new video, “Q.U.E.E.N” featuring Erykah Badu.
The video explores a witty concept where the pair play museum artifacts that come alive when the funky tune is played. The ladies change up their style game in the video as Monae trades in her typical tuxedo and pompadour look for a retro dress and a bobbed haircut, while Badu flaunts a bold and sassy blonde do.
“It was really inspired by our private conversation, dialogue that she and I have and continue to have,” said Monae. “She’s a strong woman, she’s an electric lady, she’s somebody that I look up to.”
“Q.U.E.E.N.” is the first single from Monae’s forthcoming album, The Electric Lady.
