Meek Mill is making some little dream chasers very happy this back to school season by providing 6000 backpacks, and other supplies, to students in need.
The rapper partnered with Puma, who designed the backpacks, and black-owned streetwear brand Milano Di Rouge. The swag will be distributed to 12 schools in the Philadelphia school district, including Meek Mill’s alma mater, the James G. Blaine Elementary School. The 12 schools chosen serve students from kindergarten through the twelfth grade in his beloved home city of Philadelphia.
Children receiving them will have the option to choose from three styles: black, blue mixed with black and pink with gray trim.
Meek Mill said it was important for him to give back, especially after recounting the struggles he saw in his hometown growing up.
“Growing up in Philly, I’ve watched families struggle to make ends meet and buy basic school supplies for their kids,” he said in a statement. “Those memories stay with me and that’s why I’m committed to giving back to families in my hometown, putting smiles on kids’ faces and helping them start the school year on the right note with the right supplies.”

Superintendent Dr. William R. Hite expressed gratitude for the rapper’s consistent generosity.
“We are excited that so many of our students will have brand new backpacks and school supplies for this school year, and are grateful to Meek Mill and the Dream Chasers for giving back to the community,” said Dr. Rite in a press release. “This visit is something our students won’t soon forget and is a wonderful way to kick off the new school year.”
