Lauryn Hill is unstoppable.
The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) just announced that it would be honoring the five-time Grammy winner with its Golden Note award, a prestigious honor given to singers, songwriters and composers who have had a stellar career (and who fits that bill better than Lauryn??).
“Ms. Hill’s talent as a songwriter is undeniable and reflects her singular take on the world we live in,” ASCAP president Paul Williams said in a statement. “Her ability to push boundaries and capture the humanity that surrounds us has created a musical legacy that belongs with the greats.”
Some of the previous greats that the organization has honored include Stevie Wonder, Pharrell Williams, Dr. Dre, Alicia Keys, LL Cool J, Jermaine Dupri, Jay Z, Quincy Jones and Elton John.
“Ms. Hill inspired a generation with her work and her ideals,” ASCAP vice-president of rhythm and soul Nicole George-Middleton said in a statement. “We are so proud of her extraordinary contributions to the songwriting community and excited about this opportunity to honor her with the ASCAP Golden Note Award.”
The organization will present Lauryn with the award in a ceremony on Thursday, June 25 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles. Congrats, Lauryn!Share :
