Kofi Siriboe, who plays Ralph Angel Bordelon on OWN’s Queen Sugar, has officially solidified his place in our hearts.
In a series of tweets this week, the 22-year-old declared his love for Black women, starting with the women in his immediate circle.
“My beautiful mother is every reason I need to cherish, love, and protect my sisters,” he said. “Nobody will ride for you like a black woman. Period.”

To this note, many of his followers replied with thankful gifs and appreciative comments. But there were a few who thought he should call out “all moms”… because all moms matter.
“@kofisiriboe ! Really!! All good mums do those things no matter creed or colour!,” an account with 35 followers said. To which Siriboe eloquently responded, “Love and respect to all the good mums. I’m honoring my mom, my sisters and their bold, black skin. They deserve my specificity.”
He went on to post a longer message about why he deliberately lifted up Black women.
“Just because an award show isn’t called the White Entertainment Awards, it doesn’t mean that’s not what it is. A few sprinkles of black entertainers isn’t satisfactory and quite frankly, it’s disrespectful,” he wrote.
“America’s past will tell you what my black skin has meant to them. America’s present will tell you what my black skin means to them. Therefore it’s now my responsibility to celebrate and praise the same black skin. And yes, it’s a very conscious and deliberate effort. I shouldn’t have to think twice when it comes to uplifting my black women. The same way no other race thinks twice when it comes to celebrating theirs.”
