Recently, The New Edition Story actor Keith Powers came under fire for comments he made about bisexuality during an interview with Hollywood Unlocked.

Powers was questioned about the craziest rumors he’d heard about himself. One rumor alleged that the actor is bisexual. Talking to the show’s hosts, Powers, said, “There’s such a thing as bisexual for men? I think you’re either gay or straight, personally. To each his own. I’ve seen that before, how can someone just take that and do that.”

Fans were quick to let Powers know that his comments were problematic after the interview went viral.

“When stuff like this happens I don’t look at it like, ‘Oh, it’s the end of the world,’ or anything like that. I said, as a young Black man, let me educate myself because it’s some kids out there who’s going through this and me saying that is saying they don’t exist,” Powers said.

“I’d like to apologize to all my homosexual, bisexual friends and anybody who I offended.”
