'Insecure' Star Jay Ellis Feels Some Type Of Way About One-Night Stands

Actor Jay Ellis, known for playing Lawrence on Insecure, might be the most hated man on the hit HBO series (with Dro coming in at a close second). However, according to a recent GQ interview, the 36-year-old is much more of a gentleman and far more mature in real life.

In the interview with GQ, the star admitted why he, unlike his divisive on-screen character, has never had a one-night stand. And we have to admit, the reason is a bit unexpected…

“[I’m] too shy,” he told the magazine. Who would’ve guessed? Ellis also had an interesting perspective for fans of Lawrence’s character, “If you’re down the middle [with my character], I feel like I’m not doing a good job,” he said.

Ellis stars as the ex-boyfriend to show creator Issa Rae’s namesake character and enjoys the freedom of the single life in a quasi-situationship with bank teller-turned-bootycall, Tasha before having a threesome/one-night stand with two girls he meets in line at the grocery store.

No word as to if the South Carolina native will even appear in season 3 of the series when it returns on August 12 but it’s good to hear that he isn’t as much of a f*ckboy as Lawrence
