The "I am not my hair" singer defended Michele's place to make mistakes in her career.
As Chrisette Michele does her media rounds in defense of her decision to perform during President Trump’s inauguration festivities, another fellow artist has come forward in support of her.
India Arie penned a letter Thursday, not necessarily in support of Michele's decision, but to appeal to people’s humanity over having made “missteps” themselves.
Arie emphasized that she would not have performed herself, but that we should instead "focus our attention where it matters."
Michele took to Twitter herself to thank Arie for the support.
