Tyrese has plenty to celebrate this week! The dreamy crooner’s new album Black Rose debuted on top of the Billboard charts, marking his very first top-selling release in his 20-year music career. (Yes!) To celebrate, we’re indulging in all of this hot chocolate!
If you think Tyrese looks great in photos, you already knw how much more fun it is to watch him on the big screen. Tyrese has become the go-to guy for blockbuster action flicks. (Including starring roles in Fast Five and the Transformers franchise)
Fans first fell in love with then-model Tyrese in 1994 when he flashed this perfect smile in a Coca-Cola commercial that instantly launched his acting career.

Tyrese grew up in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles where his single mom took care of him and his three older siblings. All of which likely helped him get into character for his breakout role as Jody, the spoiled son of a single mother living in California in Baby Boy.
Tyrese is often quoted singing his daughter Shayla’s praises. He’s called her the “love of his life” many times and paparazzi frequently catch him out and about on play dates with her.
One thing you won’t ever catch Tyrese doing is having a drink at the bar. He doesn’t drink because growing up his mother was an alcoholic and he vowed to be nothing like her.
In his book Tyrese writes about the importance of keeping the right people around you, and if there aren’t any around he says it’s okay to stand alone.

Tyrese founded 2000 Watts an organization created o help support inner city children in need.
Tyrese works so hard because he knows he has his work cut out for him in Hollywood. “A lot of times black actors get stuck in a box,” he once said. “They’re up against a lot of limitations for the kind of films that they get approached about. It’s easy to get stuck in a box and just be approached about nothing but urban films.”
Tyrese loves his shades, and you know what? We love him in ’em!
“Music is always my first love,” Tyrese once said. “I love what I do as an actor, but music has always got my heart. At the end of the day, acting is just that—acting.”
Tyrese has come a long way from his humble beginnings. In his book “How to Get Out of Your Own Way,” he encourages readers to follow their dreams and become the best version of themselves. He uses true accounts from his own life to lead by example and show that failure can happen to everyone.
