Gabourey Sidibe‘s new book This Is Just My Face tells her story to success through her own hilarious lens.
The 33-year-old star is currently in Empire, but before she was acting in major projects, she was a phone sex operator. Yes, you read that correctly. She answered calls from people looking for a good time and was paid a decent hourly wage.
In a snippet of her book shared on Glamour, the talent talks about starting her three-year gig at the sex phone call company right before landing her breakout role in Precious.
“Another rule was that you, the talker, were not allowed to be any race other than good ol’ American white! The average caller is a white male,” she says in the book.
“After oppressing the rest of the world all day, that white dude wants to go home, call a phone sex line, and talk to girls he’s seen in porn or on TV. The average porn or TV actress is white. According to what I had already seen at this company, the average talker was a plus-size black woman. That’s right, white dudes! You might think you’re talking to Megan Fox, but you’re actually talking to…well…me!”
In addition to writing hilarious accounts of her life Sidibe also shed some pounds, showing off her healthy snacks and snatched waist on social media.
