Calling all Southern Belles: Hammond, 28, was born and raised in Northern Carolina and he’s a real hometwon honey. He currently lives in the small town of Lumberton, which is just an hour outside of Myrtle Beach.
“To impress a woman, I would just simply be myself,” says Hammonds. “I always keep this saying in mind: ‘Hhow you start is how you finish.’ So, I’m not going to start out doing something that is out of my character. It would be presenting false hope, and that’s one thing I don’t want to do.”
“I am a God-fearing man,” Hammonds shares. “I am very involved in my church. I currently serve as the secretary of the Trustee Board.”
“I am also involved in my community, so I’m constantly giving back and making a difference,” says Hammonds. “I am a smart individual, hard-working, and a jack of all trades. I tend to do things for others, before I do things for myself. I am very family oriented and independent.”
“The kind of woman that excites me is the one who is a woman of God, independent, financially stable, cooks, cleans and was raised the old school way (catering to her man),” admits Hammonds. “Those kinds of women are rare these days, so it’s exciting to me when I run into one.”
“Yes, I can cook, ladies,” Hammonds reveals. “I’m not going to let all the surprises out of the bag, but I constantly stayed in the kitchen while my mom and grandma cooked. Observing and learning their recipes! So ladies, use your imagination!”
“On a typical Friday night, you will see me at home, relaxing in basketball shorts or pajama pants,” says Hammonds. “Watching basketball or a movie while eating a pizza.”
“The bravest thing I’ve ever done was walk up the Dunn River Falls in Ocho Rios, Jamaica,” says Hammonds. “This was brave for me because I can’t swim and I had to hold onto a stranger while walking up the falls.”
“My idea of the perfect date would be having a picnic on the beach at sunset with that special someone,” says Hammonds. “The weather isn’t too hot and the wind is blowing just right. We would spend about a few hours on the beach enjoying dinner while engaging in deep conversation and enjoying each other’s company. We would then walk the shore enjoying the breeze and scenery. After walking the beach we would come back to the spot where we had dinner and enjoy wine and chocolate covered strawberries. The night would end holding each other lying beneath the stars.”
Want to know something a little less expect about Hammonds? “I completed my undergrad and graduate degree in five years,” he says. “And, I collect shot glasses from different states that I’ve traveled.”
“I am an advisor for my alumni chapter’s Kappa League,” says Hammonds. “We mentor young men from grades 6-12th. Our jobs are to serve as positive role models for the young men, teach them proper dress etiquette, prep them for interviews, assist them with applying for college and making sure they excel in school through tutoring.”
“I always relate back to the Bible,” says Hammonds. “Jesus had to endure a lot of things during his lifetime. There were times when he was tested, but did not once think about giving up! He paid the ultimate price and paved the way for me! When times get hard, it would be easy to just be a statistic (just give up and quit). The harder things are, the greater the reward.”
“I do love what I do for a living,” says Hammonds. “My job allows me to mentor to students about making the best financial decisions. I also find myself mentoring to the students about decisions they need to make in life. Making sure they are portraying a positive image and try to reduce the amount of mistakes that they make. Students tend to ask me about my life decisions and what they should do.”
