It’s been a difficult year since Valerie Simpson lost her husband, and singing partner, Nick Ashford, to throat cancer. In this exclusive sneak peek from Oprah’s Next Chapter, Simpson says she’s still “growing every day.”
“Truly, somebody did pull the rug out,” she adds. “You have to stand up again. Some days you can’t stand up, so I lay down.”
The legendary singer tells Oprah her husband was diagnosed in March 2011, and died suddenly in August 2011.
