"I have been trying to get a hologram for years," says T-Boz.
Will Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes reemerge on stage 10 years after her death?
She might, if her TLC bandmate Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins has her way. The recent excitement over Tupac’s hologram at the Coachella Music Festival has T-Boz rethinking an idea she’s always thought about. “I have been trying to get a hologram for years but no one would pay for the budget,” she tells ESSENCE.com, adding that the group currently projects an image of Left Eye on a Jumbotron when they perform. “Fans are happy, but it’s a reminder that she’s not here,” she says.
Though a hologram might just be the wave of the future, T-Boz admits the idea did take some getting used to. “With Lisa, the first three years, I don’t think I could’ve dealt with a hologram, because you see how eerie it is,” she says. “When I saw the Tupac hologram, it made me feel some kind of way. I had tears in my eyes because he was my friend.”
T-Boz and Chilli tell ESSENCE.com they are in the planning stages of a TLC reunion tour.
