Erykah Badu joining Kendrick Lamar on stage to perform “B**ch, Don’t Kill My Vibe” at the 2013 BET Awards was one of the most memorable moments in the show’s recent history, but apparently it also gave birth to a rumor about the two teaming up for more than just music.
As 2016 ESSENCE festival attendees took to social media to rave about concert headliner Kendrick Lamar’s performance well into the July 4th holiday, Ms. Badu was engaging with fans on Twitter when the conversation turned towards whether or not there are future plans for she and Kendrick to record any music. Erykah responded with a slightly comical tweet, suggesting that she hasn’t heard from K.Dot at all since their BET Awards performance due in part to a bogus rumor that surfaced shortly after the show aired.
Kendrick aint called me since y'all made up some shit about us being in the trailer makin out so he missed his award pic.twitter.com/bZzN64WHmq

When one fan got bold and outright suggested that something definitely happened between she and Kendrick, Erykah was quick to shut her down.

She rounded out the quick convo on the topic by revealing that not much else happened between the two of them beyond what was shown on television, adding that Kendrick was “super shy” during much of their encounter.
Sound check, performance , photo opps, ghost. He was super shy. https://t.co/HQCCHpd5Qh

Kendrick confirmed back in 2015 that he’s engaged to long-time girlfriend Whitney Alford, so Erykah probably isn’t the only one who was glad to see this rumor put to rest.
