Michelle Obama filmed an episode of “Iron Chef America” at the White House, which will air tonight. Using the influence of the cooking show and the network on which it airs, Food Network, this special appearance by the First Lady is another step in her crusade to promote healthy living and eating.
“Iron Chef” pits chefs against one another in a timed match to cook several meals built around one secret ingredient, announced right before the timer begins. For this episode, all competing chefs will use ingredients grown in the Obama’s vegetable garden.
The episode will also feature the White House’s executive chef, Cristeta Comerford, competing against celebrity chefs Bobby Flay, Mario Batali and Emeril Lagasse.
The First Lady recently launched the Healthy Kids Initiative which encourages healthier eating for children, straying from a steady diet of fast food.
