“You know you can’t do nothing without your lady,” Common said on stage at the 2015 Essence Festival Saturday night. His set was a mix of classics that perfectly exemplify what his strengths are: Uplifting his community and the women in it.
“The Light” brightened up the ladies in the Super Dome. As did “Love of My Life.” But the highlight was when he brought up a young lady named Ashley from the crowd to bust a romantic freestyle to the Georgia native. The girl melted when he told her about how they’d enjoy the rest of the festival night together, hopefully catch Missy Elliott and Usher.
However, the dreamy time on stage of course came to an end when she was escorted back to her seat. Surely, she’s thinking it was nice while it lasted.
