Veteran record executive Clive Davis named Beyonce “the first lady of music” while speaking Saturday at his annual pre-grammy party in New York City.

“Hello and welcome to the first lady of music, Beyonce,”he told the star-studded audience.

Davis was playing host at his own event when he called out Beyonce, who was there to support her husband Jay-Z as he received the “Grammy Salute to Industry Icons Award” that night. The Lemonade singer was dressed to the nines in a black custom Azzi and Osta gown and black beret.

The crowd appeared to agree with Davis’ words; they offered a standing ovation in response. Jay-Z also stood and proudly embraced his wife.

Queen Bey indeed!
