Ciara shook the table this weekend when she co-signed a video that appeared to disparage single women who want to be married— a move that has left many women on social media angry.
The singer reposted a clip of well-known Pastor John Gray giving a sermon about single women who are looking to become wives.
“A wife is not the presence of a ring, it’s the presence of your character,” he says in the clip. “Too many women want to be married, but you’re walking in the spirit of a girlfriend.”
He added: “Ask the lord to deliver you from that spirit, and carry yourself like you are already taken. And I promise you when you carry yourself like a wife, a husband will find you.”
Ciara co-signed the clip with the hashtag #levelup.
But a number of women are pushing back, calling out Ciara for her apparent hypocrisy given her own tumultuous journey to the altar. And they are dragging her accordingly:
I saw the video Ciara posted and I just laughed. She’s really acting like a woman who never thought she was gonna get married so being a wife is a huge deal and part of her identity now. I’ve seen several women act like that after securing a ‘Mrs.’ title 😂
I don't think the video Ciara posted is wrong. I just think it's weird she'd post something that looks so sanctimonious when her own journey to the altar was a very public struggle (which often got nasty)
So many women went so hard for Ciara during these Future-Ciara-Russell-Baby Future arguments and she just turned around and asked them why they ain't married 😂😂😂 gotdamn bruh. Cold game

Ciara has posted a video on her Instagram account, generalizing women's frustration with being single as evidence that they need to first get themselves worthy enough to be selected. 😐
Women like Ciara who use being married as a one up on single women are the ones whose husbands cheat excessively. But yes, get that gf spirit up out of ya, girls. 🙃🙄
Ciara’s playing a dangerous game. You should never, no matter how perfect your relationship/marriage appears to be, sit on a throne and tell people why they’re not romantically successful. You can be the queen of the ball today and have cake in your face tomorrow!
