Internet sexologist sensation and TV host Shan Boodram’s straightforward approach to all things sexual health has quickly made her social media’s millennial go-to girl for sex advice and education. Fans affectionately call her “Shan Boody’ and know her as the current host of daily show Sexology with Shan Boodram (which fans can still watch up until Nov. 30 on Quibi).
Over the summer, Shan revealed that she and her husband, Jared Brady, are expecting their first child together and ever since she’s been devoted to filling her feeds with an honest take and advice for women experiencing their first pregnancy. Now, the super-excited (and fun!) parents-to-be are sharing even more.
The bestselling author and YouTube star is giving ESSENCE a first look at her gorgeous, feel-good maternity shoot photos and the meaning behind them, which was about empowering women to continue to be their best selves throughout their pregnancy.
“The theme was that all throughout pregnancy people kept telling me how much my life was gonna change, but [to be honest] I decided to have a kid BECAUSE I was happy with my life, not because I wanted a new one,” Shan shares. “So the intention behind [the shoot] was to [highlight] keeping the best parts of me to share with my daughter not to lose because of her.”
