For three years, the Obamas have celebrated the holiday season with an original flourish. This year, the White House has an impressive 37 Christmas trees and a 400-pound gingerbread house — all decorated by volunteers from 36 states. Believe it or not, every single room is decorated!
In an interview on ABC’s “20/20” Mrs. Obama told Barbara Walters that this year’s holiday theme is “Shine, Give, Share” in honor of American troops. Many of the trees in the White House are decorated with holiday cards from military children.
Apart from stringing the lights and tossing the tinsel, the First Family enjoys playing Santa Claus to those less fortunate, often donating to Toys for Tots.
