The 2019 Black Women In Hollywood event gathered ambitious women who lead strong and with pride in Hollywood. During the warm fellowship of intelligent and inspiring talent, ESSENCE and Ford showcased a colorful art piece exhibited on a 2019 Ford GT Mustang.

“Art is a language,” says artist Melissa A. Mitchell, Chief Artistic Director of Abeille Creations. “When I pick up my brush, it’s bigger than just color, it’s bigger than designs. It’s for people to be reminded that they have a voice in whatever they do.”

“The REAL” host Loni Love, broadcast journalist Cari Champion and TV host Danni Washington all stopped by the artwork to express their pride and how they use their platforms to speak out.

Watch the clip for more on the connection between art and activism, the power of our presence and what makes Black women proud!
