Pastor Touré Roberts thought his birthday celebration would include a relaxing trip to the spa and maybe dinner with family and close friends. Little did he know, his wife, author Sarah Jakes Roberts, had a special treat planned for his birthday.
“When you drop babe off for his birthday spa treatment and it’s 2017, then pick him up and take him back to the 70s… thanks to everyone who came through and made this last minute groove one to remember,” Sarah Jakes Roberts shared on Instagram.
Sarah set up a spa day for Touré and used it as a decoy to get him to a surprise 70s themed-birthday party. Partygoers pulled out their 70s gear to celebrate Pastor Touré’s birthday in dashikis, afros, platform shoes and bell bottoms. Other celebrity couples in attendance included Pastor John Gray and his wife Aventer, and fellow married friends Meagan Good and DeVon Franklin.
Before the surprise birthday party, Sarah shared an honest and sweet message to her king for his birthday.
“I thought my strength was in me walking away from toxic relationships that could cause me harm. I had no clue that the true test of strength is how well I can handle balancing the weight that comes when you’ve got a real man…. a real, grown man..a real, grown, God-fearing man who understands that relationships can be fun without being a game,” she shared.
Sarah is the daughter of Bishop T.D. Jakes and Mrs. Serita Jakes. The couple have been married since 2014 and they reside in Hollywood, California where together they pastor an active church community at One Church Los Angeles. Their blended families includes five children.
