Spending quality time together doesn’t always have to be for a baecation or a dinner date. When a couple can slay a red carpet and also give their time to meaningful charities, we are all for it. Giving back is one of the many things we love to see our favorite famous couples do together.
Many couples show us how Black love can lend a helping hand to those in need. Whether it’s for a foundation that supports an issue that directly impacts their family or for a cause that touches us all, we’ve seen couples go the extra mile to use their celebrity to bring awareness to issues that matter.
Here is a list of some of our favorite moments from the summer where Black love gave back:
Neyo and Crystal Smith
Neyo and the Smith Foundation continues to make headlines with their various fundraisers and donations. This summer the R&B singer supported initiatives to fund a free software development camp for kids in San Francisco. His foundation is a family initiative where his wife Crystal Smith and his mother have helped make the foundation a stepping stone for children in foster care to reach their maximum and full potential. Over the weekend the Smiths and their son hosted a celebrity basketball game to help raise money for children in the foster care system. Crystal shared in her Instagram post that she too was a foster kid.

Rodney and Holly Robinson Peete
You can always catch the Peetes supporting their Hollywood friends at an array of benefits, galas and dinners. The couple’s advocacy for autism keeps them on the charity circuit as they bring awareness of a developmental disorder that directly affects their eldest son. With so many people supporting the HollyRod Foundation, they are sure to return the kind gesture with appearances and hosting gigs for their colleagues. This summer they hosted their annual Design Care gala featuring a fashion show and award banquet for charity.
Emmit and Pat Smith
It’s always a family affair when this football family gives back. Emmitt and Pat Smith are teaching the babies how to pay it forward with their charity efforts. You can catch the Smith squad supporting other organizations at galas or hosting events under the Smith Charities featuring golf and cycling tournaments and a mentorship trip for children. This summer the Smith family took a group of kids to NYC for their #Team22 organization which offers unique educational experiences and enrichment opportunities for underserved children and youth of North Texas.
Russell and Ciara Wilson
The Wilsons are a regular presence at the Seattle Children’s Hospital.
The couple routinely visits the patients at the hospital to show them and their families love and support while seeking treatment. Russell Wilson brought Ciara along for his visits once the couple started dating and now the staff and patients have been a big part of their lives. The Wilsons even hosts events like baseball games, golf tournaments or karaoke fundraisers to raise money for the hospital each year.
