Comedienne, Actor, Educator, and Activist Bill Cosby is launching a new project today to get young people to “Come On.” “Bill Cosby Presents the Cosnarati: State of Emergency,” an album of socially conscious messages that challenges listeners to stand up and stand out against society’s ills and trappings. The cut “State of Emergency” has a nice old-school beat infused with strong and expected undertones of Cosby’s tough-love prescription for social change: self-determination and accountability. Says William “Spaceman” Patterson, “State of Emergency” producer and Cosby’s longtime musical colleague: “We want people to receive ‘State of Emergency’ the way we made it: as a gift; an opportunity for dialogue between children and parents and an alternative to the cookie-cutter sound that’s out here. Hopefully, we can tear down some walls and be part of the solution, not the problem.” Tonight, the Cosnarati Band will kick off the project with a virtual town hall meeting in New York City, including a few songs.
