Beyonce Performs at Michelle Obama's 50th Birthday Bash

Michelle Obama celebrated her 50th birthday this past Saturday with celebrity guests and performances from John Legend and Beyonce.

According to eonline.com, Beyonce performed at Michelle Obama’s 50th birthday party on Saturday.

The singer, 32, was joined by John Legend who also performed for the first ladies special night. Famous attendees included Mary J. Blige, Gladys Knight, Stevie Wonder, Magic Johnson, Gayle King, Sheryl Sandberg, Michael Kors, Jennifer Hudson and Samuel L. Jackson.

Jackson commented on the special occasion as he made his way to the event, “I am looking forward to saying happy birthday to her, being able to celebrate this great milestone in her life,” The Avengers’ star said.

Mrs. Obama is said to have worn a red and black ensemble to the soiree dubbed “Snacks & Sips & Dancing & Dessert”. Guests were encouraged to wear comfortable shoes, refrain from taking photos and were even given a lesson in how to do “The Dougie” by President Obama himself.

One of the evening’s highlights was the president’s sentiments about his wife of 21 years. Musician Herbie Hancock said, “It was really beautiful and really touching. He said something-his voice almost cracked like he was crying. It was just beautiful, a husband speaking about his wife.”

Beyonce posted a series of pictures from the night’s festivities on her tumblr page. The singer can be seen posing in a sequined gold mini dress, as well as petting one of the first family’s dogs. This performance was just one of her many dedicated to the Obamas. She also serenaded the couple during the president’s first inaugural ball in 2009 and the swearing-in ceremony in 2013.
