The baby’s sex was a surprise for both Mishael and her husband! It wasn’t until her baby shower, where her friend made a baby reveal cake, that she found out that she was having a boy. “For the longest time—about seven months—the only person that knew was [my friend] and my doctor. I took the letter from my doctor, and I gave it right to her…I cut [the cake] at my shower, and we found out it was a boy.”
The soapie star’s husband was working in Toronto when they found out she was expecting. He has since moved to L.A. to be closer to Mishael and the baby.
Her baby bump isn’t stopping her from working. “All of my shots on camera are in front of the bar and from my waist up,” Mishael tells ESSENCE. “That’s the great thing about soaps: They work around it so easily. They’re so used to it.”
Through her pregnancy, Mishael has been grateful for her fans. “They’re so sweet and so supportive of everything. All I’ve gotten was really, really sweet words and insight from all of them.”
On the subject of a “babymoon,” Mishael and her husband traveled to Hawaii in February, and they’re thinking about taking a quick trip down the coast to San Diego. But they’re running out of time—she’s six weeks away from her due date.
Talk about an active mama. Mishael said that until recently, she worked out three to four times per week. The only thing stopping her now? Her belly is too big!
“I really wanted to make sure that I was emotionally in the right place to have a baby,” said Mishael. “I felt like this was kind of the time in my life where I felt like everything was coming together. I kind of just trusted the universe and trusted myself more than I ever have in my life.”
“I feel more fabulous than ever,” says Mishael. “I feel like a woman. I don’t know how to explain it better than that. It’s just the height of being a woman. When I got my baby bump, I was actually really excited about it and happy about it and proud about it.”
