Alicia Keys is a roller skating mama!
On Tuesday, the singer celebrated her youngest son’s birthday with a family roller skating trip in Newark, NJ. Keys and husband, Swizz Beatz’s son Genesis Ali Dean turned 3 years old on Dec 27.
For the fun night, the happy family strapped on roller skates and showed off their moves, spinning in circles around the floor. Keys was wearing skates that lit up, similar to the ones Prince was said to wear during his legendary skate sessions. Beatz —who has shared video of him skating before— was especially talented, doing dance moves on the rink.
Over the weekend, the Dean family celebrated Christmas in New York City with a large dinner and games. Swizz shared video of the family playing musical chairs on Tuesday where he was the DJ.
“If we’re not having fun and enjoying our time that we have on this earth, then what are we doing it for?,” Beatz told ESSENCE about his first skating video that went viral. “I love skating and I love music, and I love to have fun on my down time.”
“Just let your shoulders down, that’s what that message is about, let your shoulders down and celebrate yourself. I just graduated, and I was just reminiscing and just vibing, I was just in a good space and I just wanted to share that space with everyone.”
