How do you define beauty? In our society, when it comes to women, there are so many stereotypes and contradictions about what is deemed “beautiful.” According to Webster’s dictionary, beauty is the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind, whether arising from sensory manifestations (as shape, color, sound, etc.), a meaningful design or pattern, or something else (as a personality in which high spiritual qualities are manifest). When it comes to beauty, women are nothing short of amazing. They come in variations of shapes, colors, and sizes. Each part of their character and personality adds an element to their beauty. In every video that I have done, I have tried to have lead actresses of different variations from size and color to nationality. For example, in my video for my latest single, “I Don’t Care,” I had a Nigerian woman with beautiful dark skin as my lead actress. This reinforces my belief that beauty is not just associated with the every day stereotypes that are often portrayed on television. I believe in highlighting the “greatness” that I see in every single woman that I come across. There is such beauty in variety. It may not always be evident when you look at a woman, where her greatness lies. But the truth is that the greatness of women is reflected in the very essence of who we are. It is a part of who we become. Each one of us makes our passage into this world through a woman. It is through their uniqueness that we are born into our own uniqueness. That being said, it is important that we cherish the women in our lives. Whether they be the mothers of our children, our mothers, sisters or friends, it is up to us to always cherish the things we see in them that make them great. As I bring this blog to a close I want women to remember their own greatness. The most beautiful thing God ever made was a woman. Every flaw, scar or mark you may have adds to your beauty. Regardless of what society may try and get you to believe, every single one of you are beautiful, “inside and out” and that is your GREATNESS. “Greatness” Verse 1 Under the gloss on your lips there’s greatness What lies between those jeans on your hips is such greatness The words that part your mouth The Swagger in your flow Glowing through the make up that you wear And the way you wear your hair Chorus Inside Out…out…out Inside Out…out….out (You’re Greatness) When you don’t feel beautiful in all like the mirror on your wall I’ll let you know You’re Beautiful Verse 2 Inside them Giuseppe’s on your feet girl there’s greatness And baby Victoria holds the secrets to your greatness Under your pedicure and under your manicure (girl) There’s greatness (Um hmm Greatness) You gotta twinkle in your eye baby that can light the sky That’s Greatness (ooh that’s your greatness) You got a smile that shines like a sun So baby don’t let no one ever still your greatness (Your greatness) Chorus Inside Out…out…out Inside Out…out….out When you don’t feel beautiful in all like the mirror on your wall I’ll let you know You’re Beautiful Repeat Read More:
