The 2019 American Music Awards are officially underway, and we’ve already seen several unforgettable performances.

Music legend Toni Braxton moved us with a nostalgic performance of her ‘90s hit song “Unbreak My Heart,” while New Artist of the Year nominee Lizzo, brought the house down with “Jerome.” We also can’t forget to mention Ciara’s opening number.

Ciara, who is the host for this evening’s event, kicked the show off with her new single “Melanin.” The electrifying performance was an ode to brown skin and among the night’s best Black beauty moments.
