I Spend About 72 Days A Year Shaving...And So Do You!

We know you like to take your time getting pretty, but a recent article in New African Woman Magazine revealed a few surprising beauty stats that may shock you about how much time you spend getting dolled up every year.

72 Days

If you weren’t one of the women to jump on the ‘No Shave, No Shade’ train last year, and you still dedicate time during your Saturday morning shower to getting perfectly smoothe skin, then by year’s end, you will have spent approximately 72 days shaving—that’s three and a half months dedicated to getting rid of body hair.

44 days

When it comes to moisturizing, we often cheat anything below the neck. But, as your body’s largest organ, it is important to make sure that you keep your skin moisturized, even if you opt for an in-shower lotion over a heavy body cream. Those of you who are already moisture addicts, spend an average of 44 days keeping your skin in tip-top shape.

52 Days

You’ve probably heard that sleeping in make up is a huge beauty no-no. And, if you follow beauty’s cardinal rule, then makeup wipes and facial cleansers are probably your best friend, next to moisturizer. All of that grooming comes at a cost, though. 52 days of your year are spent wiping off last night’s lipstick.

20 Days

We all love a good pamper session; and a mani-pedi is a must! As women on-the-go, it’s comforting to know that at least 20 days of the 365, are spent in a massage chair while someone takes care of our hands and feet. If you generally do your own mani-pedi, try recruiting your boyfriend or hubby to take on the task. Offer to trade him for a massage.

20 Days

During Essence Festival last summer, Lynn Whitfield stated that she frequents jjimjilbang (Korean spas) for a full body exfoliation treatment on a weekly basis. If exfoliating is your favorite beauty pastime, then its likely that you dedicate an average of 20 days per year to sloughing off and buffing your skin.

Covering up greys and experimenting with color will take up 23 days of your year, so choose your color wisely!

294 Days

No surprise here, ladies we spend more than 3/4 of the year doing our hair— 294 days to be exact. That’s a whole lotta’ mirror time.

30 Days

We spend and entire month making sure that we have enviably gorgeous brows everyday— it’s totally worth the 30 days.
