When it comes to doing it big for any occasion, nobody tops Sean “Diddy” Combs. So when it came to celebrating the music mogul’s 50th birthday, Black excellence showed up in numbers and in their best. Though his birthday was actually in November, it was reported that Diddy pushed back the celebration to coincide with the birthday of his ex-girlfriend and the mother of his children, the late Kim Porter. The ladies in attendance represented her legacy right.
It was all about sleek hair and red-carpet glitz at the massive celebration that took place this past weekend. Starlets such as Regina King, Naomi Campbell, Mary J. Blige and La La Anthony came decked out as they would for an awards show like the Oscars or Emmys. Beyoncé also made an appearance in dark chocolate–hued tresses paired perfectly with her gown that oozed with old Hollywood glamour.
On Sunday the rapper, producer and businessman wrote in an Instagram post, “Words can’t explain how much we miss you but today is your birthday. We’re celebrating you today! We love and we miss you!!!!!”

I was like, ‘Look, this is a guy who I can learn from.’ And all my life is about in the pursuit of how much can I learn? Who can I learn from? And for me that was actually invaluable.”
