It’s no surprise that pink lipsticks can look very boring. And, if it’s the wrong pink and nude color for your skin type, it’s an instant turnoff. So, when makeup artist Nick Barose found the perfect natural glow for Gugu Mbatha-Raw for the Motion Picture Academy’s Governor’s Awards, we HAD to know what he used.
“To compliment her shimmering rose gold Jason Wu dress, we opted for neutral lips that still have a pop to it to keep it from being too monochromatic,” says Barose. “The Dolce Gabbana Sophia Loren No. 1 Lipstick is neutral with a hint of cherry red so when applied with a light touch you get a feminine color that looks glamorous.”

In fact, when Barose applied the lipstick, Gugu, told him her middle name was Sophia, similar to the lipsticks namesake. “It was the perfect choice of lips for the night,” says Barose.
