Spectacled Beauty

Girls who wear spectacles know that finding the right beauty look can be a little bit of a challenge. These makeup tips will help you combat shadow, brighten eyes and revamp your eye makeup.

Conceal Shadows

Your frames often create shadows below your eyes. To combat the shadow effect, use a warm hued concealer that is two shades lighter than your natural skintone. For addional brightening, look for concealers with light reflecting properties. Apply the concealer in an inverse triangular shape under the eye where the shadow of your frame falls. Blend upward using your fingers or a brush, as executed here by Lauren, our digital editorial intern. Finish the look and prevent creasing by dusting with a translucent powder.

Rock A Bold Lip

Bold lipstick adds instant polish to any look. Sure, red lips are classic, but pink and fuchsia hued lips are just as fun! Amp up your beauty look with a bold, bright lip like ESSENCE editorial assistant, Taylor, who is wearing Hard Candy Plumping Serum in Show Stopper ($6, available at Walmart)

Focus on the Lower Lash Line

The frame of your glasses typically cover your lids, but your lower lash line is fair game! Line the inner corners of your lower lashline with a shimmery liquid liner. Our Digital Editor, Dominique is wearing Hard Candy Walk the Line Eye Liner in Dive Bar available ($6, available at Walmart). to add a pop of color, line your lower lash line from the middle to the outer corners of your eyes. Dom layered Sephora X Jem and The Holograms Truly Outrageous Eyeshadow Palette in Keytar and Rio ($39, available at sephora.com)

Experiment with Liners

Chances are your winged liner can’t be seen behind your frames. Ditch your usual cat eye and experiment with new liner looks. Assistant Digital Beauty Editor, Virginia used the tip of a liquid liner pen to create a dot below her lower lash line to widen her eyes. If you’re feeling flirty, line your lower lashline with a neutral metallic shadow.
