Celebrity beauty was in a transitional mood this week. Following ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood and the Oscars, there’s just days until the official start of spring. In other words, beauty looks have been glamorously reflecting the change in season.
The best way to bring in something new? A hair cut. Zendaya proved how easy it is for Black women to pull off ear-level hair: a set of casual curls and nothing but mascara and lip liner. It’s a style Kelly Rowland agreed with as well this week with her dark brown curled bob at Camille Rose’s Inaugural Art of Glam Awards. However, extra-long straight black hair had a moment, too. Just look at Kimora Lee Simmons, who paired hers with a smoky eye, at the Chanel show and Megan Thee Stallion who wore her long silky tresses with burgundy tones.
While makeup was still focused on mascara (see: Chase Infiniti at Paris Fashion Week), there was still space for extra drama. Aweng Chuol, for example, leaned into the blush craze with neon pink plastered on to match her lipstick. Rico Nasty attended ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood with white swan inner corners. And, to end the week, Doechii took Lollapalooza in metallic makeup as dramatic as her bouffant hairstyle.
