It’s no secret that box braids are a go-to protective style for many us, especially during the summer. Not only are they easy to keep up, but they’re super versatile and can take us from the beach to a fancy night out.
Or even the stage as Mary J. Blige proved at this year’s ESSENCE Fest. The songstress rocked beautiful waist-length blonde box braids during her set (and a custom Dapper Dan outfit). While we’re used to seeing the singer in her signature cropped ‘do, we couldn’t get enough of this remix on a classic protective style.
While most of us typically opt for shoulder or mid-back length braids when we get them, Mary proved that going for the drama in color and length totally makes a statement.
