Cardi B May Be Starting A Beauty Trend With Her ‘Press’ Video

The emcee dropped the official video and we’re not mad at her looks.
Cardi B May Be Starting A Beauty Trend With Her ‘Press’ Video
By Shalwah Evans · Updated October 23, 2020

Cardi B made her directorial debut with the official release of the video for her single “Press,” and the fans are going insane. The rapper worked with photographer and director Jora Frantzis, whom she said she was tough on and thanked for making her vision come to life. In true Cardi fashion, she doesn’t hold back, incorporating a story line that mirrors a real-life situation the rapper recently appeared in court for. And while the hard-core lyrics of the song might not be helpful for her case, we can’t help but get caught up in the lewks she’s serving while she spits them. At one point she’s showing bawdy, dancing naked in the street with dozens of naked women following her moves behind her.

Article continues after video.

Still, the best look of the production was her all-white courtroom appearance. From her outfit to her hair, and even her full brows, the emcee dons white on white on white, with nude lips and a flawless face. In an Instagram post, she revealed that it was her idea and that she was very specific about the look she wanted, especially when it came to the white brows and white hair.

“Thanks glam for taking good directions and trusting me on glam and working together to make the looks possible. I wanted these white eyebrows, white hair look so bad! Ya work together and made it happen just how I wanted it,” she wrote in the post yesterday.

We saw white eye makeup as a trend on the spring and fall 2019 runways for brands such as Self Portrait and House of Holland. We also saw the colored-brow trend on runways for Guy Laroche and Acne Studios. Cardi just took it to another level, combining the two and matching it with her hair. But why stop at white? Knowing Cardi, next time we might get violet brows with purple tresses, emerald brows with green strands or even chartreuse brows with electrified hair. This could be the beginning of a bizarre yet superdope trend that should certainly get a ton of press.
