Set in the early sixties, this coming-of-age film is about a young girl (Dakota Fanning) who escapes a problematic life with her father to find answers about her deceased mother in a South Carolina town. She finds consolation in the house of the Boatwright sisters—Alicia Keys, Sophie Okenedo and Queen Latifah—where she learns more than she anticipates. The movie hits theaters October 17.
