With two days to go, the countdown to the 54th Annual Grammy Awards is officially on, and singer Marsha Ambrosius is bursting with excitement over her nominations.

“I’m trying to breathe more than anything,” she tells ESSENCE.com. “I’m really just trying to breathe through this. I don’t think I’ve been this excited my entire life.”

Ambrosius is nominated for two Grammys, including Best R&B Song for “Far Way,” off her debut solo album, Late Nights and Early Mornings. As a member of Floetry, she and partner Natalie Stewart were nominated for five Grammys but never took home a golden gramophone. “[Winning] is all I’ve ever wanted,” she says.

Already hard at work on her sophomore solo effort, the UK-born singer is set to go on a mini U.S. tour this summer, where she’ll premiere new material. “Almost like a live unplugged — real intimate vibe so people can really feel it,” she says, describing the new album’s sound.
