The 69th Annual Emmy Awards were full of unforgettable moments and one that truly stood out was a magical exchange between talented actress Anika Noni Rose and Hollywood legend Cicely Tyson.
Taking the stage alongside Rose to present the award for Outstanding Limited Series, the always-stunning Tyson received a much-deserved standing ovation from the crowd. When the 92-year-old icon suddenly took a long pause just before reminding the audience of her role in the
Roots miniseries some 40 years ago, a humbled Rose graciously leaned over to give her some encouragement to keep going.
While she was admittedly nervous in the moment, mama Cicely shined through, per usual, with a little help from Rose, and later went on to present the award. Social media quickly took note of the gesture and responded accordingly, applauding Rose’s kind act while also marveling at Tyson’s ageless glow.
The brief, but touching, show of support between the two actresses made for a beautiful Black Girl Magic moment that won’t soon be forgotten!
