Nina Shaw: ‘If You Want to Be a Woman in Power, Then Empower Other Women’

As one of Hollywood’s top entertainment lawyers, ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood honoree Nina Shaw knows a thing or two about leading the pack.

During yesterday’s ceremony, she shared her thoughts on the importance of blazing a trail for future women.

“If you want to be a woman in power,” she said, “then empower other women.”

The issue extends beyond the racial barrier. Shaw said that the White men in power have a responsibility to lend a hand to women of all colors.

“If you’re a White man in the industry, you need to actively hire women,” she said. “Do it for your wives and daughters.”
