The 2014 BET Award nominations were announced and ESSENCE Festival performer August Alsina earned three nominations.
The “I Luv This” singer is nominated for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, Best Collaboration and the highly coveted Best New Artist catergory along with Ariana Grande, Mack Wilds, Rich Homie Quan and ScHoolboy Q.
The New Orleans native released his debut album Testimony, which sold 63,552 units its first week and landed the 21-year-old singer-songwritter at the number two spot. Alsina recently visited by the ESSENCE offices to discuss fame and gush about the love and admiration he has for his mother.
