They’re Hollywood and music royalty, as far as we’re concerned. Their work inspires us to dream bigger and reach higher. And for that ESSENCE Magazine is honoring their phenomenal talent for it’s third annual Black Women in Hollywood luncheon.
This year’s Black Women in Hollywood honorees include actresses Queen Latifah, Zoe Saldana, and Gabourey Sidibe and music superstar Mary J. Blige. The annual luncheon honors African-American women in Hollywood who help to transform images of Black women in television and film. Held during Oscar week in March, this year’s event will also commemorate ESSENCE Magazine’s 40th anniversary.
“We are proud to carry the ESSENCE legacy into the future by honoring the accomplishments of such brilliant performers as Latifah, Zoe, Mary J., and Gabourey, whose incredible talent and sheer grit are serving to change the face of Hollywood,” says ESSENCE editor-in-chief Angela Burt-Murray.
Past honorees include Jada Pinkett-Smith, Ruby Dee, Halle Berry and Diahann Carroll.
Congrats to this year’s honorees. We can’t think of anyone more deserving of the honor.
