The unique drumbeat of “Pony” is an iconic thump that brings crowds to their feet instantly. On the final night of Essence Festival, not only did the song get everyone in the Superdome in the spirit to party and sing, but when Ginuwine hit the stage to surprise his former musical partner in crime and mentor, Timbaland, we were reminded that the 48-year-old singer still got it, and actually never lost it. Dressed in a sparkly vest touting his name, a large derby hat, and a perfectly groomed beard, he reinstated his position in our hearts as our forever teenage dream.

Earlier that night he also performed at his own superlounge, sporting an all white ensemble, belting out his hits to prove why he’s worthy of the main stage.

And he’s been making the rounds with those dimples, looking like the dapper don that helped skyrocket him to fame when he first released “Pony” 23 years ago.
